Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 10a, the latest entry in its popular A-series.

In a post announcing the device, Google describes the Pixel 10a as “Everything you need, at a price you’ll love,” adding that it “packs core Pixel experiences into a sleek, durable design.”

As I previously reported, the camera bar is gone. Google has flattened the camera array so it sits completely flush with the phone’s back. It’s a small tweak that solves the annoying wobble when you use the phone on a table.

The 6.3-inch Actua display is 11% brighter than last year’s model, hitting 3,000 nits at peak, which should let you see what’s on your screen even in direct sunlight. Durability also gets a boost. The device carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for improved scratch and drop protection.

Sustainability is another focus. The phone uses the highest amount of recycled materials in the A-series so far, including recycled metals and an aluminum frame made from 100% recycled material.

Camera upgrades powered by smarter software

Photography remains a key selling point. The Pixel 10a features a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens, along with Night Sight and Macro Focus.

Several AI-powered tools are coming to the A-series for the first time. Auto Best Take automatically selects the best group photo from multiple frames, while Camera Coach provides step-by-step guidance on lighting and composition. Users can also edit photos in Google Photos by typing or speaking instructions, and the Add Me feature allows the photographer to insert themselves into group shots.

Battery life, safety features, and long-term updates

Google says the Pixel 10a delivers more than 30 hours of battery life, or up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Charging speeds have also improved compared with the previous generation. For the first time in the A-series, the phone includes Satellite SOS, which lets users contact emergency services even without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Powered by Tensor G4

Under the hood, the Pixel 10a runs on Google’s Tensor G4 chip with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB.

The chip powers Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Users can access Gemini Live for conversational interactions, Circle to Search for quick on-screen lookups, and other AI-driven features like Call Screen and Hold For Me. However, the Pixel 10a does not include every AI capability found in the flagship Pixel 10 series, as some higher-end features remain reserved for premium models.

Price and availability

The Pixel 10a is available for pre-order now, starting at $499. It officially hits store shelves on March 5 and comes in four distinct colors: Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, and a standout, vibrant Berry. Google is also backing the device with a commitment to seven years of OS and security updates, ensuring the phone stays current well into the 2030s.
