The concept of Manchester United’s ‘no dickheads’ policy – myriad horses having bolted long before – was underlined by their first signing since the transfer edict. It is difficult to think of a more ‘no dickheads’ player than Mason Mount, with Jonny Evans arriving a fortnight later. That was the same summer in which Dean Henderson was their biggest sale. A phenomenal keeper and Crystal Palace stalwart he may have become, but one can absolutely see how he might have developed a certain difficult reputation at Old Trafford. Mason Greenwood, by the way, was offloaded the following year. Gilbert Enoka, the…

Image: Adobe Stock If it wasn’t cold enough in the UK, the US has now decided to freeze their £31 billion tech deal. The US move deals a significant blow to UK government hopes of deepening economic ties with Washington and raising fresh questions about the state of the so-called special relationship. The “tech prosperity deal”, announced last year and presented as a centerpiece of renewed US-UK cooperation, has been put on hold amid unresolved trade disputes. The move underscores how disagreements over taxation, regulation, and market access continue to complicate relations, despite high-profile diplomatic engagement between London and Washington.…

The number of women in technology roles increased by 1% last year, according to research from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. The professional body’s Gender diversity in the tech sector report 2025 found there are currently 441,000 women in tech roles in the UK, making up 22% of the total IT workforce. This represents slow growth, having increased by just 3% over the past five years. The BCS is concerned that this slow rate of progress will hinder the UK’s opportunity to fully utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in line with the UK government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan. Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed that the Red Devils wanted to sell him in the summer but the board lacked the “courage” to do a deal. However, even Fernandes has been off form for Man Utd at times this term despite still providing five goals and seven assists in the…

Nissan has given no indication of which models will stand to gain a Nismo variant, whether the new models would be combustion-engined or electric or in which markets those models will be launched. The firm did say, though, that it will “actively…

The conversation around datacentre growth and national initiatives to develop and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) models and applications has dominated the datacentre narrative in 2025. It has concentrated on the physical size of the facilities, their substantial energy and water demand, and the inadequacy of the available energy infrastructure to support the proposed buildout. Sustainability seems to be an afterthought, if it is mentioned at all. In fact, the expansion of digital infrastructure offers an opportunity to positively transform its energy and environmental footprint and significantly increase the deployment of carbon-free generation capacity across the global electricity grid. Datacentre…

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insists that Liverpool will allow Mohamed Salah to leave in January if a club submits an enticing proposal. The Reds have been having a rotten second season under Arne Slot after the Dutchman stormed to the Premier League title in his first campaign at Anfield. The Liverpool board and Slot made the joint decision to omit the Egypt international from their squad to face Inter Milan last midweek before peace talks saw…
