The personal addresses of thousands of Danske Bank customers were leaked last year following a planned system upgrade. During a three-month period, until a fix was implemented when the issue was discovered in October, the personal addresses of customers making payments in Denmark were visible to recipients of domestic payments The bank said in a statement: “The issue arose from a human error during a planned system update, which affected the system in question and subsequently meant that existing controls did not detect the error at the time.” The bank was alerted to the error by three customer incidents.…
Ordnance Survey (OS) has worked with Snowflake to develop Intelligent Flood Readiness, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data model for assessing the impact of flooding. The model has identified that 1.2 million in England are at risk of falling outside flood protection measures, many in some of the most deprived parts of the country. The model’s main use is in policymaking, where it is able to support analysis of more granular data instead of treating wide, geographic areas as homogenous when assessing flood risk and remediation. According to Snowflake and OS, policymakers could use the model to identify plans for…
It looks like we’re heading for a new American Century when it comes to datacentre development, with US capacity set to triple to a staggering 102GW if all projected capacity in the pipeline comes to fruition. Meanwhile, the UK – with about 1.7GW currently – will reach about 4GW, and looks set to slip in the rankings in terms of absolute datacentre capacity and in terms of megawatts (MW) to gross domestic product (GDP). That’s according to figures from commercial property agent Cushman & Wakefield, plus GDP data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with analysis by Computer Weekly. Also…
The Jogger’s cabin has been neatly revamped in line with other Dacia models and the cockpit of this Hybrid 155 Extreme is considerably more urbane than that of the car we tested in 2021. There are greens, golds and contrast stitching, and the seat fabric is not only now better looking but harder-wearing too. The steering wheel is also new, as are the air vents, and Dacia’s YouClip mounting system – for phones and storage options – is now standard with numerous points.Know, though, that the ambience is still decidedly ‘built to a cost’. The hard plastics in this cabin…
Salesforce is disclosing more of its agentic AI “ecosystem” at its TDX developer conference in San Francisco this week, as its executives reject common IT industry talk of software-as-a-service (SaaS) enterprise applications being imperilled by artificial intelligence (AI). The supplier said, in a general news statement for the conference, that its decision – taken “two-and-a-half years ago”, in late 2023 – to rebuild its code base for agentic AI has taken it beyond traditional user interface navigation of business software. “Instead of burying capabilities behind a UI [user interface], we now expose them so the entire platform is programmable…
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has appointed Capgemini as its digital transformation partner as it sets out on a four-year strategy to grow the sport’s reach. A key part of the plan is to reach new audiences through digital platforms, with an ambition to add 500,000 “passionate fans” for national teams. The organisation’s Plan 2030: More than a game programme involves four pillars: Play, Perform, Follow and Fund. Its goal is to “grow the game, enrich lives and ensure rugby continues to thrive at every level across the country”. Digital platforms are being used by sporting organisations to increase fan…
The ID 3, Volkswagen’s first bespoke electric car, has received a massive update – and a revised name – as part of an effort to right the wrongs of the six-year-old hatchback and increase its appeal. The EV has been given fresh exterior styling, bigger batteries and, most significantly, a completely new interior that features an array of physical buttons, which will be shared with the soon-to-be-revealed ID Polo and ID Cross siblings. Volkswagen is moving away from using number designations for its EVs (the ID 4 is set to be rebranded as the ID Tiguan when it receives a…

The Jensen Interceptor is to be reborn as a new British-built, V8-powered GT, 50 years after production of the iconic original ended. Banbury-based Jensen International Automotive (JIA) has confirmed its new model, due to be revealed in the coming months, will be called the Interceptor GTX. It will be JIA’s first clean-sheet design, the firm having previously specialised in restoring and modernising Interceptors, creating restomods such as the Interceptor R. It will be hand-built in “ultra-low” numbers and therefore probably command a very high price. It is claimed to be an “ultra-high-performance”, luxury proposition that will offer a fully analogue driving experience. This suggests that it will use…
What to look for Four-cylinder engines: There are many horror stories about the 2.0-litre diesel, particularly regarding the diesel particulate filter, timing chain, turbos, oil dilution, excessive cylinder wear and coolant leaks. The 2.0-litre petrol and later 2.0-litre MHEV diesel are safer bets, but they can still suffer timing chain and turbo issues. Six-cylinder engines: Many owners agree the 3.0-litre V6 and straight-six petrol and diesel engines are the most reliable. Nevertheless, listen for knocking in the diesel (crankshaft issues) and watch out for heavy coolant use in the petrol (water pump problems). Alternator: The belt tensioner can fail in…
