Image generated by Google Gemini Microsoft on Tuesday pushed out what security researchers are calling the second-largest monthly security update in the company’s history, patching 165 vulnerabilities, including two zero-days. The sheer size of this month’s release raised eyebrows immediately. Dustin Childs, head of threat awareness at Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative, noted in a blog post that the release rivals the record set in October 2025. Microsoft has offered no public explanation for the surge in volume, but Childs pointed to a growing trend: “Our incoming rate has essentially tripled, making triage a challenge, to say the least,” he…
Image: Generated via Google Nano Banana About 20,000 people have had their data stolen by a single hacking group that weaponized 108 Chrome Extensions in a numbers game. Discovered by Socket, a security research organization, these Chrome extensions masqueraded as everyday utilities while reporting to the same Command and Control (C2) server. On the surface, they appeared to be legitimate tools. But under the hood, the researchers found that these tools stole users’ data and injected malicious code into their browsing sessions. At the time of reporting, all 108 extensions are live on the Chrome Web Store. To keep users…
Love it or hate it, the word “soul” is quite synonymous with From Software, whether that’s Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, its other challenging action games like Bloodborne or Elden Ring, or the Soulslike genre the studio inspired. So it’s no surprise that some players expected “Soulframe” to feature gameplay reminiscent of a Soulslike. After playing the game for several hours myself – and if you’re a Game Informer subscriber, you will be receiving a Soulframe Preludes code to check it out for yourself, too – I can confidently say that while there is a slight tinge of that Soulslike feel, I wouldn’t place…
When reviewing family cars, we looked at how a car handled the chaos of domestic life. We thought about practicality, packaging, interior flexibility, refinement, overall usability and safety. Here’s what we assessed:1. PracticalityWe tested real-world boot capacity to see if it could handle bulky items like suitcases. We considered the benefits of underfloor storage, as well as how useful a frunk can be in an electric car. We also scrutinised the cabin for clever storage compartments, large door bins and how flexible the interior layout was. 2. Cabin spaceWe tested the ease of access to childseat mounting points and whether the door aperture…
Image: NomadSoul1/Envato Microsoft has taken over the commitment to rent data center capacity at a site in Norway, originally intended for OpenAI’s Stargate venture. The site will provide Microsoft with access to 30,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin chips and expand on the company’s previous $6.2 billion commitment to the site. It is the latest pullback by OpenAI on its Stargate project, suggesting the startup may be looking to reduce future spending in preparation for an IPO later this year. Just last week, OpenAI announced it was pausing the Stargate project in the United Kingdom, citing high energy costs. Both the UK and Norwegian…
Image: WABetaInfo WhatsApp is preparing to introduce usernames, a feature that allows users to chat without sharing their phone numbers. According to reports from WABetaInfo, the feature is already rolling out to a small group of beta testers and will expand gradually in the coming months. This marks a major shift from WhatsApp’s long-standing system, where a phone number has always been required to connect with others. With usernames, users will instead be able to share a unique handle to start conversations, bringing WhatsApp closer to platforms like Telegram and Signal. However, WhatsApp will still require a phone number to create…
The ‘CC’ exploded onto the scene, hit 1.3 million annual sales and shrunk to a niche curiosity within just a decade Today Mazda’s decade-old MX-5 RF is the only coupé-convertible (CC) you can buy. Amazing, really, considering that 20 years ago the market was awash with them. Mercedes-Benz was to thank – or perhaps blame – for this craze. “The innovative electrohydraulic hard top, dubbed ‘Vario top’, has the ability to transform the SLK from a coupé into a roadster in just 25 seconds,” we explained in 1994, as the firm unveiled an evolution of an earlier roofless sports car concept.…
Image: Generated via Google’s Nano Banana Cropping a photo should be quick and easy. For some Google Photos users on Android, it has been anything but, with shrinking previews and awkward rotations that get in the way of simple edits. Google is now addressing those frustrations with a set of updates focused on its crop tool. The changes fix long-standing bugs and introduce smoother animations, making everyday edits easier. While not flashy, the update matters for millions of users who rely on Google Photos for quick, on-device image adjustments. Small fixes, noticeable impact Google said it rolled out the improvements…
The personal addresses of thousands of Danske Bank customers were leaked last year following a planned system upgrade. During a three-month period, until a fix was implemented when the issue was discovered in October, the personal addresses of customers making payments in Denmark were visible to recipients of domestic payments The bank said in a statement: “The issue arose from a human error during a planned system update, which affected the system in question and subsequently meant that existing controls did not detect the error at the time.” The bank was alerted to the error by three customer incidents.…
Ordnance Survey (OS) has worked with Snowflake to develop Intelligent Flood Readiness, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data model for assessing the impact of flooding. The model has identified that 1.2 million in England are at risk of falling outside flood protection measures, many in some of the most deprived parts of the country. The model’s main use is in policymaking, where it is able to support analysis of more granular data instead of treating wide, geographic areas as homogenous when assessing flood risk and remediation. According to Snowflake and OS, policymakers could use the model to identify plans for…
