Returnal, Housemarque’s sci-fi roguelite action-shooter, launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2021. However, as part of Sony’s push to widen its PlayStation ecosystem to PC players, it ported Returnal to PC in 2023. Other PlayStation first-party games have made their way to PC, too, like God of War and God of War Ragnarök, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Bungie’s recently released extraction shooter Marathon. However, recent reporting at Bloomberg reveals that PlayStation is charting a course back to console exclusivity, specifically stating that games like last year’s Ghost of Yōtei and Saros will not be released on PC.
With that in mind, I asked Saros director Gregory Louden, flat out, if there are any plans for the game to come to PC. He’s a director at a PlayStation first-party studio, so I wasn’t surprised when his presumed media training kicked in for his answer: “Today we’re only talking about Saros and the launch on the PlayStation 5.”
Fair play, Louden, fair play.
Only time will tell if Saros ever comes to PC, but given recent reports, it seems Housemarque’s latest might remain a true PlayStation 5 exclusive.
