Google is rolling out its March 2026 Pixel Drop, bringing a mix of AI upgrades, new personalization tools, and productivity features to Pixel phones, tablets, and wearables.
The update introduces several Gemini-powered features, expands Circle to Search shopping tools, and adds desktop-style multitasking to Pixel phones. The Pixel Watch also gains new security tools that can automatically lock a phone if it’s left behind.
Pixel Drops are Google’s periodic software updates that deliver new features to supported devices without requiring new hardware. The company says the rollout begins this week and will continue over the coming weeks.
AI shopping tools and Gemini automation expand
Google described the update in a company blog post announcing the March Pixel Drop, highlighting several AI tools.
One of the biggest upgrades expands Circle to Search, which can now identify multiple objects in an image, including entire outfits. “Simply circle the entire outfit, and Google will help you find all of the items you see,” the company wrote.
The feature also adds a “Try It On” button, allowing users to preview clothing on themselves or on a model before buying.
Gemini is also taking on more routine tasks across different apps. According to Google, users can now ask Gemini for help planning their next grocery cart, booking a ride, or just placing their usual purchases.
“Gemini works with your apps in the background and gives you the option to view or end a task, so you’re in control,” Google noted. The company also introduced Magic Cue, which gives restaurant recommendations based on your conversations without switching apps.
Pixel phones gain desktop-style multitasking
The March Pixel Drop adds desktop-style computing features to Pixel devices, according to Google’s support announcement.
Supported Pixel phones can now connect to an external monitor via USB-C to enable a desktop-style interface that supports multiple windows. Users can run several apps side by side on a larger screen, effectively turning their phones into lightweight workstations.
“This feature transforms your phone into a productivity hub, allowing you to run multiple apps side by side. It’s the simplest way to handle complex multitasking without needing a laptop,” Google emphasized.
Pixel Tablet devices are also gaining desktop windowing capabilities. Apps can open in free-form windows that can be resized, overlapped, and positioned anywhere on the screen, similar to a laptop-style desktop environment.
The update also includes several personalization features, such as AI-generated icon styles that create a consistent aesthetic across a user’s home screen.
Security and accessibility tools expand across Pixel devices
The Pixel support post mentioned that Google also used the March Pixel Drop to expand several safety, accessibility, and regional AI features.
The Pixel Watch can now alert users if they leave their phone behind and automatically lock the device once it moves out of Bluetooth range. When paired with a Pixel phone, the watch can also assist with faster identity verification.
Google is also expanding the availability of its Scam Detection in Phone feature during phone calls to users in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Germany, and Japan. Additionally, users in India can now record their conversations and generate a full transcript of the discussion with the Call Notes feature.
The release also included accessibility features such as Guided Frame, designed to help users who are blind or have low vision capture photos. This capability is now available in more languages and can describe a scene even without an internet connection.
Google said the March Pixel Drop will begin rolling out immediately and will continue over the next several weeks, depending on device and carrier availability.
