There was only one game on Boxing Day, thanks to woke, but we were given a fat Saturday schedule as a decent consolation. Arsenal responded to Manchester City’s earlier win, Liverpool climbed into the top four, and Brentford and Fulham continue to rise up the Premier League table. But for every lovely thing, there’s a sour note. Burnley drew 0-0 with Everton, West Ham made relegation feel all the more inevitable, and Bournemouth failed to escape their rut. We might have the new Citypool as Arsenal respond in title race These Manchester City and Arsenal teams aren’t on the…

Chelsea are ready to allow Enzo Fernandez to complete a move to Real Madrid if the Spanish side allow Jude Bellingham to move to Stamford Bridge, according to reports. The Blues are having a decent season with Enzo Maresca’s side fourth in the Premier League heading into their match against Aston Villa later on Saturday. Chelsea backed Maresca in the summer transfer window with over £280m spent on new signings as Clearlake look to make a push for the top echelons on the league. And, with ten new signings, Maresca has done a good job of keeping everyone happy and gelling…
Italian police have arrested nine people accused of raising around €7m (£6m) for Hamas over more than two years. The money was ostensibly collected as humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians, a police statement said, but was instead sent to the militant group via a “complex fundraising system”.Alongside the arrests, police say they have seized more than €8m (£7m) in assets as part of the investigation. Police say the suspects are “specifically accused of carrying out financing operations believed to have contributed to terrorist activities”.The arrests were made as part of a joint initiative between Italy’s counter-terror police and financial police. The investigation…
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed his side for claiming a “really big three points” on the road at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The Citizens went top of the Premier League with the 2-1 win, although Arsenal will go back to the summit on Saturday if they can beat against Brighton, thanks to goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki either side of an Omari Hutchinson equaliser for Forest. Guardiola was well aware of the threats posed by a good Nottingham Forest side under Sean Dyche and he was pleased that Man City got out of the City Ground…
Tessa WongAsia Digital Reporter, Kuala LumpurBBCSusanna Liew has been fighting for nearly a decade to find out what happened to her husbandWhen Susanna Liew stepped in front of the TV cameras at Kuala Lumpur’s High Court last month, she called the moment a “historic and emotional milestone”.”Today… the High Court has delivered a judgment of what we have long believed: that Pastor Raymond Koh was a victim of a grave injustice,” the 69-year-old said in a shaky voice that evening. It was a hard-won but stunning legal victory in a case that became one of Malaysia’s biggest mysteries.Nearly nine years earlier,…
We are once again asking how Manchester City faced so little competition for Rayan Cherki. It could have been very different for the French magician, who rejected Fulham after the Cottagers agreed a £16.7million fee with Lyon in the summer of 2024. Cherki felt a better opportunity would come and, the following summer, he joined Manchester City for £34m. Most people knew how excited to be about Cherki. Some tried to be cute and backed him as the Premier League flop of the season. Others predicted that he would outperform £100m Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz. Pep Guardiola is letting him…

There have been some truly honking decisions made by Premier League clubs this year. That covers botched transfer pursuits, botched completed transfers, botched transfer windows…and even botched wardrobes. Here are what we deem the worst mistakes by each club in 2025. You can check out our best decisions right here – after reading this, obviously. Arsenal: Picking Viktor Gyokeres In hindsight, Arsenal probably should have gone for Hugo Ekitike. It was between Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko for Andrea Berta, who was hell-bent on signing the former. But Ekitike was right there. The Frenchman went to Liverpool after Newcastle United failed…
Paul MellyWest Africa analystAFP via Getty ImagesVoters in Guinea and the Central African Republic will get to vote for president On Sunday, citizens of Guinea and the Central African Republic (CAR) will go to the polls to elect their presidents for terms of office of seven years. Both contests could, in theory, go on to run-off ballots. Yet in both, the incumbents are strong favourites, with observers predicting they will clinch victory outright in the first round with more than 50% of the vote. But that’s where the similarities end.The CAR, vast and landlocked, is one of Africa’s poorest countries, marred by…
