An all-Premier League affair in the FA Cup third round weekend.
We’re wrapping up coverage of the biggest tech show in the world. CES 2026 is almost over, and while we have more stories and wrap-ups to come, here are the most interesting products we’ve spotted, written about and critiqued/praised. That includes our picks for the best of CES. We gave out 15 awards as well as our best of show, and you might be surprised by some of our picks — I know I was.Read on for some of the best things to come out of Las Vegas this week, but first up, our Best of the Best winner, which…
I finished Death Stranding 2 during my holiday break after 66 hours (absolutely loved it, especially that bonkers ending and also, maybe one of my favorite performances from Troy Baker and proof we need him as a villain in more games). Looking ahead to January, I realized I had the rare opportunity to dive into my backlog because the month is so chill for new releases. I whittled my options down to Yakuza 0, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Metroid Prime Remastered… and Samus Aran’s big round shoulders won.I’m roughly halfway through it now, and I am enjoying it, but I’m…
What are you up to this weekend? I might see Marty Supreme tonight (have you seen it? I truly love ping pong), and the boys and I are going to make brownies. Thank you also for the amazing comments on this book post. Hope you have a good one — stay safe — and here are a few links from around the web… My niece got me into Block Blast and now I can’t stop. Steal, the new heist thriller, looks really compelling. Banana Republic is having a huge winter sale, and I’m eyeing this cozy sweater. Greek salmon patties? Yummmmm. Novels…

Learner drivers and education The government is mulling measures to address the standard of driving by both young and old drivers. For those aged between 17 and 24, a group that suffers 24% of all road deaths and serious collisions, it will consult on a mandatory three- or six-month learning period before a driving test can be undertaken. This is intended to help novices gain experience in a range of conditions, such as in wet or cold weather and at night. Such a period is effectively already in force, owing to long waits for driving test slots in much of the nation. The average backlog…
Image: Generated via Google’s Nano Banana Artificial intelligence had its “we have legs” moment this week… literally. CES demos and corporate shakeups pushed silicon brains out of cloud racks and into bodies that can walk, drive, vacuum, and even accessorize. We watched Boston Dynamics’ Atlas sort parts at Hyundai, Nvidia promised hands-free reasoning under the hood, and Roborock taught a vacuum to climb stairs without human pity lifts. Meanwhile, Mobileye dropped nearly a billion dollars on humanoid research, Motorola dangled a necklace that orders your Uber, and Elon Musk plotted a two-gigawatt GPU goliath to win the compute wars. Even…
Meta’s messaging app WhatsApp could soon be subject to deeper scrutiny (and punishment) under the European Commission’s Digital Services Act, Reuters reports. Because the app’s broadcasting feature WhatsApp Channels grew to around 51.7 million average monthly active users in the European Union in the first six months of 2025, the feature has crossed the 45-million-person barrier that lets DSA rules apply.A platform is designated as a “very large online platform” or VLOP once it has 45 million monthly users or more, according to the European Commission. Once an app or service passes that amount, it’s subject to the DSA and…
