When we said even the S E-tron GT feels faster than an RS6 Avant, we meant it. With 671bhp on tap, this is an extraordinarily quick car and, of course, one with that immediacy of torque delivery that is typical of an EV. It has been given quite the uplift in power and at Horiba MIRA it proved even quicker off the mark than claimed (check out the figure below). A 0-60mph time of 3.1sec is nipping at the heels of bona fide supercars, and it comes as a result of this chassis’s ability to put almost all of its 546lb ft to the…

We’re not about to criticise the Tottenham Hotspur scriptwriters. Season after season they deliver the goods, hitting a full gamut of emotional plot-points from high farce, cringe-comedy that you fear to watch yet cannot look away, profound misery, abject despair, crushing disappointment and, cruellest of all, occasional moments of genuine hope and glory. They’ve largely nailed it again this season with a storyline that leans heavily into farce but also has a lot to tell us about hubris and the dangers of stubborn refusal to accept objective reality. But if we were going to give one small note, it would…

Kia will ramp up the use of digital technology in the interior of its next-generation vehicles but will retain real buttons, according to its interior design chief. The Korean firm’s current generation of vehicles feature touchscreens to control the infotainment and heating systems but retain physical switchgear for key systems. That is in contrast to many of Kia’s new Chinese rivals, which offer interiors largely devoid of physical controls. While Kia is looking to increase the digital features offered in its future vehicles, Jochen Paesen, the firm’s interior design chief, believes the key is retaining a “balance”. He said that “we never really went away completely…

Image: Adobe Stock The music industry’s uneasy relationship with artificial intelligence reached a new turning point this month, with two high-profile decisions suggesting that, for some parts of the industry at least, AI has crossed a line. Bandcamp, the independent music platform, has announced a ban on music generated “wholly or in substantial part” by AI. Around the same time, Sweden’s official music charts quietly removed a hugely popular song after concluding that it was largely the product of AI rather than human creativity. Together, the moves show a growing resolve among parts of the industry to defend human creativity…

Respected journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal have opened the door to offloading Ethan Nwaneri as Marseille ‘work on a deal’. Arsenal have comfortably been the best team in the Premier League this season as they are deservedly celar at the top of the table, while they are also well-placed to challenge for the Champions League and potentially win domestic cup competitions. This is helped by their brilliant transfer business over the past few seasons as they have moved to complete their squad, with their £250m investment in the summer ensuring head coach Mikel Arteta has quality options in…
