Owners of Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance versions of the Volvo EX30 have been instructed not to leave their cars unattended while charging indoors or in covered areas, due to a battery fire risk. Volvo recently identified an issue with battery cells overheating in the long-range versions of the EV, which use a 69kWh pack comprising nickel-managanese-cobalt modules. Cells that overheat can cause a fire that spreads to the rest of the pack, potentially igniting the rest of the car. The new advice comes from discussions between Volvo and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), after the brand advised owners of…

Galaxy Z TriFold. Image: Samsung Samsung has announced the price of the Galaxy Z TriFold, and if you thought the regular folding phones were already too expensive, you may want to look away. The TriFold starts at $2,899. That’s right, close to three times the price of a normal iPhone or Galaxy smartphone. To be fair to Samsung, this is somewhat expected given the Galaxy Z Fold7’s starting price of $1,999. Add another screen, add another $900. Even so, the Galaxy Z TriFold pushes the limits of what consumers are willing to pay for a smartphone, particularly given that its main selling…

A new invention not much bigger than a fizzy drink promises to revolutionise EV battery technology by dramatically reducing rapid-charging times. Independent testing by the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) has demonstrated that Dectravalve, a patented, new liquid-cooling technology for electric car batteries, developed by British startup Hydrohertz can reduce the time taken to charge a 100kWh lithium-ironphosphate (LFP) battery from 10% to 80% at 350kW from 30 minutes to just 10. For an EV with a battery of that size achieving 3.5mpkWh, that would mean adding around 245 miles of range in the time it takes to grab a coffee. The…

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is “devastated” at his former club’s failure to sign Marc Guehi and has sent a warning to Arsenal. The Reds were widely backed to dominate the Premier League this season, having spent over £400m on summer signings after clinching their 20th title last term. However, it has since been proven that their spending was misguided, while their failure to sign Guehi was another significant blow. Liverpool had a deal agreed for Guehi on deadline day in the summer, but this move collapsed and he has instead joined Manchester City in this transfer…
