The news that the Jaecoo 7 was the UK’s best-selling car in March wasn’t really a surprise (it has been in the top 10 for much of the last year), but it’s still a significant milestone that deserves some exploration. That the Chinese SUV’s rise to the top of the UK sales chart already felt inevitable is notable in itself: it’s a genuine cultural phenomenon, an expectation-bending sales smash from a brand that has scarcely been in the UK for a year. It will sit alongside machines such as the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage in transitioning from big selling cars into…

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration has closed its investigation into Tesla’s remote parking features, after it found that previously reported incidents led to minor issues and happened in low speed. NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigations opened an evaluation into incidents involving the company’s Actual Smart Summon feature in January 2025. It’s a level 2 automated driving feature meant for parking lots or private property, allowing Tesla owners to control their cars from an app within short distances.Investigators said there were 159 incidents involving the feature overall, but those make up less than one percent of the millions of…

Spotify’s Prompted Playlist tool now works for podcasts, after earlier this year. As the name suggests, this is an AI thing. It lets users use natural language, or prompts, to describe what they’re looking for in a playlist and the algorithm does the rest. The platform says the tool is a good match for podcasts, as listeners can use it to discover a new favorite show or “dive deeper into a topic or piece of culture.” Spotify adds that the algorithm generates playlists based on both the prompt and a person’s listening history, along with “what’s happening in the world today.”SpotifySpotify…

Apple has run into “more issues than expected” with its foldable iPhone, which may delay its release, according to the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei. Multiple sources report issues that apparently occurred during early test production phases and may delay first shipments by months.Component suppliers have supposedly been notified that the foldable iPhone’s production schedule will be delayedand Apple is working to address the problems. Apple was reportedly prioritizing the foldable iPhone and other premium models for its September event this year, due to constrained supplies — that whole thing. One fewer iPhone model might reduce the company’s demand for pricey…

There is more than one type of V8 engine in the world, of course, but when people say they like V8s, I think we know what they’re mostly talking about. They don’t usually mean high-revving, flatplane-cranked V8s like those you will find in many supercars or racing cars – the ones that sound like two four-cylinder engines welded together, which is not surprising, because that’s essentially how their cylinders fire. No, they usually mean old-school, fat (in both the ‘f’ and ‘ph’ versions of the word) crossplane-cranked V8s, often of Detroit descent, with a low rumble, a broad and responsive powerband…

Ongoing tensions between Iran, Israel and the US have brought new challenges to countries across the Gulf. For the education sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the wider Middle East, this evolving geopolitical situation presents a significant test. In response, schools and universities are increasingly turning to technology to ensure that learning continues without disruption. The push goes far beyond basic videoconferencing: national education technology providers are reinventing remote learning, equipping teachers and students with new tools and approaches that promise lasting change, as they did during the Covid pandemic. “We have always seen technology as an enabler, but…

For the better part of a decade the move to public cloud was sold as the ultimate environmental win.  The logic was simple. Hyperscalers operate at a level of efficiency no individual company could hope to match. But as we move deeper into 2026, that “green” polish is starting to wear thin.  For IT leaders, the challenge has shifted from migrating workloads to justifying the physical and environmental cost of those workloads in a world that is increasingly sceptical of corporate hand-waving. The reality on the ground today is that while Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, and Google all…

On the plus side, for a mid-sized SUV, the 7 is hugely roomy front and back, while the boot, although not massive, at 412 litres, is practically square in shape, and beneath the floor there’s a spare wheel – an increasingly rare sight these days. Plenty of glazing and huge mirrors afford excellent vision, ideal in the urban landscapes in which, despite its off-road promise, the 7 is most likely to be found. All the controls are effortless, but the steering feels vague – add in plenty of body roll, and a B-road weapon this is not – and the…

When NASA allowed Artemis II astronauts to take their smartphones with them, we already knew it could lead to some epic phone shots of the moon. NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman took one such photo on his iPhone, just as the Orion spacecraft his crew was on approached the moon for a lunar flyby. The astronauts turned off all the lights inside the cabin to be able to take better pictures. In the livestream, Wiseman showed the camera a photo he took on his iPhone 17 Pro.As 9to5Mac notes, he said on the livestream that he took the picture on his…

The Jaecoo 7 was the UK’s best-selling new car in March, beating regular chart-toppers the Ford Puma, Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. A total of 10,064 examples of the Chinese crossover were registered last month, compared with 9193 Pumas, 8718 Qashqais and 7310 Sportages. Such a performance in what is typically the strongest month of the year for sales – as buyers look to get a car with a new numberplate format – has propelled the 7 into second place for the year so far, with 15,569 registrations. That puts it just behind the Puma, with 16,128. The 7 is notable for…
