When reviewing hypercars, we looked past their expensive price tags and judged them on performance, technology and driver engagement. Our list only includes cars that we have driven. Here’s what we assessed:1. PerformanceWe benchmark 0–62mph, 0–124mph and standing-mile sprints. We don’t just take the manufacturer’s word for top speed: we evaluate how stable and composed a car feels as it approaches its aerodynamic limit.2. HandlingWhile they must be road-legal, hypercars are born for circuit driving. We test their grip and high-speed balance through technical corners. We assess how the car manages its weight and whether its active aerodynamics provide genuine high-speed downforce or…
image: envato/GoldenDayz Google’s AI Overview feature — which provides an AI-generated summary in response to search queries — is producing hundreds of millions of incorrect answers every day, according to an analysis conducted by AI startup Oumi on behalf of The New York Times. Using the industry standard SimpleQA benchmark, Oumi ran and evaluated 4,326 Google searches, finding that results were accurate 85% of the time with Gemini 2, and 91% of the time when AI Overviews ran on the more recent Gemini 3 model. Given that Google handles over 5 trillion searches per year, even a 9% inaccuracy rate…
The Sans Institute, one of the world’s pre-eminent cyber security certification and training bodies, is to play a key role in the annual Nato Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) Locked Shields exercise, held in Tallinn, Estonia, through the provision of a fully functional power generation system that participating teams will attempt to defend during the game. This year marks the 16th running of the Locked Shields live fire security defence exercise, which unites blue teams from across Nato’s 32 member states, as well as other allies and observers. This year, however, Sans has been entrusted with the…
The Bovensiepen family have confirmed that their first car since selling their Alpina marque to BMW will cost well over £300,000 – testament to their new company’s aspirations to rival Bentley and Aston Martin. The Bovensiepen Zagato, revealed last year at Italy’s prestigious Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza, is a heavily reworked BMW M4 that promises to stay true to the traditional Alpina formula in combining staggering performance with GT levels of refinement. Named for the Italian design house that shaped it, the Zagato will be limited to just 99 units. Prices in Bovensiepen’s German home market start from €369,495 – equivalent to…
Source: Amazon Amazon is betting bigger on Anthropic. The real prize? The compute behind Claude. Amazon is adding another $5 billion, with the potential for up to $20 billion more over time. This investment is on top of the $8 billion it has already invested in Anthropic. The expanded tie-up gives Anthropic access to massive AWS capacity as demand for Claude rises across enterprise, developer, and consumer markets. For Anthropic, the payoff is more room to grow and fewer bottlenecks. For Amazon, it is a chance to make AWS even more central to the next phase of the AI race.…
The government has announced the closing date for the financial redress scheme for subpostmasters who were part of the successful High Court action against the Post Office. From the end of July, the scheme will be closed to new applications, with the government aiming to end the scheme by 31 December. The Group Litigation Order (GLO) scheme was for subpostmasters that won the landmark case against the Post Office in 2019, which proved that errors in the computer system they used in branches cause account discrepancies they were blamed for. These were members of the Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance…
A new mega-V8 is tearing up Australia’s Repco Supercars Championship, with the engine developed in the UK by Swindon Powertrain. Swindon was appointed by Toyota’s homologation partner, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, fielding two Gen3 Toyota GR Supras on behalf of Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia. The 4969cc base unit is a substantially re-engineered Toyota 2UR-GSE V8, which first appeared in 2007 and has been used mainly in Lexus models. The series’ rules allow displacements of 5.0 and 5.7 litres, so Swindon Powertrain opted to increase the stroke from 89.5mm to 94mm by making a new crankshaft so the stroke matched the bore, to…
Danish logistics giant DSV is under pressure to rush through a colossal IT integration so its sprawling global computer systems can compete with artificial intelligence (AI)-driven operators that have sent shockwaves through the industry. The pressure was already on DSV after its €14.3bn (DKK 106.7bn) takeover of Germany’s DB Schenker made it the world’s largest third-party logistics firm last year. The deal lumped it with a heavy financial burden caused by overly complex freight and IT operations spanning 90 countries, and the large debt it raised to pay for it. The freight market has meanwhile slumped. DSV is rushing…
Fiat could bring its funky new three-wheeled micro-truck to the UK as an ultra-compact last-mile delivery vehicle. Revealed last year, the Tris is a tiny electric pick-up that channels the spirit of the iconic Piaggio Ape in its single front wheel, handlebar steering and tiny proportions. Equipped with a single seat and handlebar steering, the Tris is designed for use in busy city environments. It also has open sides for quick entry and exit – but Autocar understands it would need to be fitted with doors to meet UK safety requirements. It can be ordered in either chassis-cab, flatbed or truck-bed…
Credit must be given to Skoda for making the Superb’s cabin an upmarket, well-equipped and materially pleasing place in which to travel, but your primary motivator for buying the car is still likely to be space. In either hatchback or estate bodystyles, this is a big family car in the truest sense. The previous version had celebrated quantities of leg room and boot space, but this one emphatically completes the picture.Although previous Superbs have been long but disproportionately narrow cars, our tape measure confirms the presence here of a wider interior across the second row of seats than either a Ford Mondeo or a Volkswagen Passat – both rivals…
